RIPT was born from the discovery of the aesthetic potential of some accumulated publicity posters on an abandoned building in the center of Florence. My part of this process is to remove parts of layers to reveal colors and patterns sealed within the paper. This process lies somewhere between the idea that Michelangelo believed he could already see the forms of the sculpture within his chosen block of marble and removing the scratch-off coating of a lottery ticket. I found some sort of perfection in my first torn fragment and subsequent pieces have been a search to repeat this phenomenon.
